Event Description — 3-DM Consultancy

About the session
3-DM Consultancy is a data science consultancy start-up located in the JADS
building (a university in ’s-Hertogenbosch founded by TU/e and Tilburg University).
In a world in which large companies have their own data teams and the knowledge
to leverage data to its full potential, we see SMEs struggle to keep up with the
advance of data technologies. This is where 3-DM comes in.
Our expertise lies around the domains of supply-chain management and
municipalities. We help organizations in these domains take their next steps towards
data-driven decision making. This ranges from very low data-maturity projects
where we help structure and manage the data of the organization, to high data-
maturity projects where we apply advanced AI and optimization methods.

What we are going to do
In the session, we will describe the work we do in the social domain (a sector
within municipalities). We explain what the purpose of this domain is and how we
helped several different municipalities manage it. Then, the students will experience
what it is to be a data scientist in the social domain and get to solve a challenge.

What students can expect and learn

• Experience what it means to be a data scientist for a municipality
• Present findings and detect business opportunities
• Get a feel for what a career in data consultancy looks like at an early-stage start-up
